No Reserve: 1995 Girard-Perregaux - 9050
This Girard-Perregaux Ref. 9050, produced in 1995, represents the brand’s approach to classical dress watch design in the late 20th century, combining traditional Swiss finishing with a modern automatic movement. The reference is notable for its restrained proportions and the use of a sapphire display back.
The dial is executed in a clean, matte silver tone with applied gold Roman numerals and a subtle railroad minute track. The subsidiary seconds register at 9 o’clock is crisply printed and well balanced. The gold leaf hands remain sharp and free from oxidation. The crystal is clear and free of scratches, providing an unobstructed view of the dial. The yellow gold case retains its original lines and has been recently polished as part of a comprehensive service, with light handling marks visible on the lugs and bezel under close inspection. The signed crown shows minimal wear, with the GP logo clearly defined.
This example is fitted with a non-original brown lizard-grain leather strap, which shows some creasing and wear, particularly near the holes and at the ends, but the original 18k GP clasp will be sold with this watch and can be added to a new strap by the new owner. The sapphire display caseback is secured by six screws and reveals the automatic movement, which is clean and presents crisp Geneva stripes and perlage. The engravings on the caseback, including the reference number, are sharp and fully legible.
The watch was recently serviced by Girard-Perregaux, including a full overhaul of the movement, case polishing, gasket replacement, and waterproofness testing. It is accompanied by a remaining 10-month Girard-Perregaux service warranty. No box or papers are included beyond the service documentation. This listing comprises the watch itself, the original gold buckle, and the current strap. The combination of recent factory service, original gold hardware, and the display back make this Ref. 9050 a representative example of Girard-Perregaux’s 1990s dress watch production.
