2001 Zenith El Primero Chronomaster Moonphase 0240.410

This Zenith Chronomaster, reference 02.0240.410/01, dates to 2001 and pairs the El Primero automatic chronograph with a complete calendar and moonphase. The caliber 410Z runs at 36,000 vibrations per hour, allowing the chronograph to time to a tenth of a second, and it carries chronometer certification from the COSC, marked on the dial and documented by the certificate included with the watch. The layout follows the original El Primero arrangement: a 30-minute counter at three o'clock, running seconds at nine, and a 12-hour counter at six with the moonphase disc set into its upper half. Day and month appear in apertures at ten and two, with the date between four and five.

The silvered dial is preserved in excellent condition, showing no blemishes or discoloration. The printed signature and tachymetre scale remain crisp, the applied markers and Roman numerals are secure and unmarked, and the three snailed counters are clean with no hand drag or spotting. The calendar apertures are correctly aligned and the moonphase disc is unblemished. The hands are straight and even in finish, with no corrosion or loss.

The 40mm stainless steel case retains strong definition through the stepped bezel and lugs, with light hairlines across the polished surfaces and a few minor nicks along the case edge, consistent with careful wear over two decades. The sapphire crystal is free of chips and scratches, as is the sapphire display back, through which the movement presents clean and unmolested, with bright gilt wheels and no corrosion. The crown is Zenith-signed and the pump pushers are undamaged. The Zenith-signed steel bracelet and folding clasp show scattered scratches on the polished center links and a scuff on the clasp cover, the most visible wear on the watch. The case-flank reference engraving and the caseback markings, including the production number 17102, remain deep and legible.

The watch is offered as a complete set: outer sleeve and red inner box, the original guarantee card dated May 2, 2001 and stamped by the selling retailer, the COSC chronometer certificate, the instruction and product booklets, the original hangtag, and one spare bracelet link. The storage pillow is present but cracked, which has caused some white flakes to appear on the watch in some images. Service history is unknown and water resistance has not been tested. A set this complete is uncommon on a watch approaching twenty-five years old.
